hi looking for a lovely Diahatsu Copen Red/Yellow/Blue/Green up to £2000. really want one of these cars, please let me know if you have one for sale. i live in the london, ealing area so if nearby great, but am happy to travel for the right copen!
Welcome to Copenworld You might find you have to travel to find right car for you. Have you looked at the buyers guide? Daihatsu Copen Buyers Guide It will help you know what to look out for. You are probably looking at a 660 model so make sure it has been serviced every 3000 miles / 6 months or you could end up needing a very expensive new turbo
Thank you for your advice...I missed out on 2 recently mainly because I didn't realise how popular they are
As Copenworld's newest member, I hardly feel qualified to make any contributions yet, but as I got my 2008 Copen only 6 weeks ago, maybe I can add to this conversation. The Copen I bought was advertised as a 660 'Vivid', but (and I think I'm pretty sure about the car now), although it's red, as it's got a plain interior and an ordinary steering wheel, it can't be a 'Vivid', and it's most certainly a 1.3. I paid £3,750 for it; as it had only done 24k miles and it seems to have been kept inside, I thought this was a very fair price for a wonderful little car; was I mugged? One website that I've found very helpful is the gov.uk MOT 'history checker', which gives a sense of how well an older car might have been looked after. Forgive me if this is statin' the bleedin' obvious for the old hands.....
In germany, you would not be able to get a 1.3 from 2008 with that low mileage for 3750 quid / 4500 Euro. I would say its an OK price
Sounds like you got a good deal to me it won't be a "vivid" if it is a UK registered 2008 / 1.3. A lot of cars are being sold as vivid at the moment, I'm not sure why as they don't usually get more money for the vivid package. Had your car been a 660 vivid you would have paid quite a high price (the car would be older for a start) but for a 1.3 with 24k you have got a very fair price.
Thanks. My sense of what is happening is that websites like Autotrader direct their vendors to the 'usual specification' of a particular model - whether or not the car for sale is actually that model. For the Copen uninitiateds (like me), words like 'Vivid' make this little car sound even more enticing!
Sometimes the seller uses words just to make it stand out from the other advertisements. What can be even worse is when it has just been re-badged to make it look like something that it isn't. I can remember watching Top Gear (think it was the episode with the Copen in) and they had a picture of a Vauxhall cavalier and someone had just put stickers on the back saying Doge Charger!!!
Hiya, Cheers for your advice...I am just about to buy a red one for less than £2000...im very excited...even thou its the end of summer...well almost
hiya...its a 660 2004 with 65000...ive looked and driven 3 so far and had to travel far and wide but taking advice off here I checked them out and found 2 of them were Cat C...now i know its not the end of the world but it just so happens the one I like the most is about the right price and feels right and body n engine are good...so tomorrow im off to make my offer...wish me luck
The vivid Copens are red, 660 and made in 2004 and have a spoiler. It was a special edition with extras included in the price - I'll see if I can find a link.
OK, thank you. Mine was first registered in 2004, is red (see picture), 660 turbo, has the alloy wheels, red leather reats and red inside door trim, but it doesn't have a spoiler. There is a decal with the word "Vivid" written in black on the boot cover on the left corner seen from the rear.
Looking at the article it doesn't mention a spoiler but AdamK had a vivid (above) and it definitely had a spoiler and I'm sure I read somewhere that they did have one - I'll have to find it
