I have a 54 plate copen with 659 engine. Need a new turbo. Any advice on best place to get one would be gratefully appreciated!

Loss of power points at a failed turbo. You can still drive, but there is hardly any acceleration.
Signs of turbo illness, screeching noise, blue smoke.

    Hi there,
My turbo has just failed too and scared by the part prices.
Did you have any luck replacing yours and how did you go about it? Any advice would be really helpful,
    Thanks.
    Chris

If you look after it, it will keep going.
A member had 220,000 km on the clock & still on the original turbo.
Has your Copen got a good service history? Do know for sure when it was last done.
Keep changing the oil every 3k or 6 months, oil filter every 6k or one year.

Is it necessary to service at 3K? My agent advised that 5K is sufficient.

The turbo doesn't cope well with old oil.
It is essential to maintain a healthy turbo to change the oil every 3k miles or 6 months, which ever comes first. This is as stated in the Daihatsu service manuals. The oil filter should be changed every 6K miles or one year, which ever comes first. personally I now change the oil & filter every 3K miles.

I have some photos at home of a Copen engine gunk up from old oil. I'll try to remember to post them later.

One sludged up Copen Turbo engine.

That's what happens when you don't change your oil. That sludge blocks the oil lines to the turbo. Resulting in one knackered turbo & a big bill.
