You know the top half of the plastic mounting point on the hoop snaps off. The wind deflector is then just lifted out.

I doubt they would've fitted the wrong filter. The genuine Daihatsu oil filter for the turbo model is low in height to allow it to pass through...
How many miles on the clock now & when you bought it?
Perhaps the Roof ECU in the boot is playing up from being damp?
My advice would be to fix it first. The cost to fix it would be less then the value you would lose on selling it as is.
Listened again on full volume. Still couldn't pick up any abnormal sounds.
I couldn't hear anything wrong. Just sounds like the normal induction roar (air getting pulled in) then the wastegate opening (blow off valve).
