Hi, I have owned my 1.3 Copen (08) since April 2011 and when I purchased it, it had corrosion spreading from the centre of the wheel. Luckily I was able to get all the wheels replaced and they have been fine untill the recent cold weather and the salt on the roads, which has caused the start of the corrosion on the new wheels again. It's so frustrating because I do look after my car exceptionally well, and I'm dreading what the wheels will be like by the end of the Winter, as I have only driven through salt about 4 times so far this year. Has anyone else had this problem with their wheels or know of anything that can prevent the corrosion? Many thanks Small_But_Mighty
Corrossion on the Copen alloys is very common. Your car is still within the corrossion warranty period of six years. Get to your nearest dealer & get them replaced. To keep my alloys nice, I wax them every time I wash the car ( at least twice a month). In the winter you need to wash the alloys regularly. Just wash the alloys if you don't have the time to do the whole car. Again I'll be applying wax each time.
Have been using Scottoiler FS 365 on mine since I had my alloys replaced. The product comes from the motorbike sector and provides a barrier against corrosion. Hope this helps!
