Have started the rebuild and I stupidly didn't record which size valve bucket came from which valve, but having had all the valves out and recut them back in I think I may need some new valve lifters in various thicknesses once I get my head round how to check the clearances and work out what size lifters I will need but not sure we're to source them as all of mine are between 2.820mm and 2.960 but I may need some slightly thicker lifters, has any one else reset valve clearances as Im kind of out my comfort zone big time
done a similar job in the past...many many moons ago..not on a Copen..on a Rove SD if my memory serves me ?? There is a bit of maths involved..and you have to measure the thickness of the buckets if they are not clearly marked with a micrometer So get your self a sheet of card and mark out a grid of valves Measure record thickness of each bucket and which valve you have put it in the grid on the card Fit the buckets to the valves as per card grid....measure the clearance when fitted...work out how much each valve is or isn't out,,? add that value to the thickness of the bucket that was fitted and you then have the thickness of the bucket that you need for each valve If you are lucky you will have some of the correct size/thickness amongst the buckets that you have...just on the wrong valve..so you can switch some and wont need to replace them all. Where you get new ones from...I haven't a clue ?? engineers/machining shop?
