Spun my car 720 degrees in ice and hit the sloped kerb real hard. Think it's a write off and waiting for a garage report to pass onto my insurance.

    Think that's the end as I can't afford another I don't think.

I'll let you know what happens as time goes on.

No real bodywork damage, but rear left wheel bent flat almost, suspension bust and front left wheel bent left 45 degrees. Rang the garage and they think it will be a write off as I don't really know what floor damage was suffered.

To be honest if I was in any other car it probably would have rolled. Just waiting to see what happens now. I'm alright like, wasn't even shocked or bruised. Just disappointing that's all.

Oh and yes, the hazard lights automatically come on when you bump it - they went off after I started the car again. :)

Oh that's gutting. Been through similar distress myself after getting rear ended. I hope it can be saved. Good luck.

Did you do it in that snow we had yesterday?
I drove home from work yesterday very gingerly and was pleased to see that the snow had all but gone this morning. Roll on Spring.

Thats always bad to hear. I heard from a friend at Toyota, that a Copen was written off after hitting a Kangaroo at high speed. But he made over $30,000 selling it to people who needed parts. Parts are super expensive in australia for anything to do with Daihatsu

So sorry to hear about the car, but at least you weren't hurt, some consolation I suppose to how you feel right now.

    Thanks all.

Got an idea of the bill...looking at about £3500 in parts before VAT + Recovery. And that was before the price of a new drive shaft which I managed to snap along with smashing in half the brake discs!

I think part price will kill it and it will be a write off, up to insurance now. Considering a car the same as mine goes on the forecourt for around £5000 - £5500 insurance value is only about £3200 to them.

I bet the insurance company first offer is only £3000.

Just a wait and see game now.

Depends what the insurance company offers. I put down a value of 5200 for it so will have to see what happens.

I would get another if the offer is decent after the £600 excess.

Oh no! glad you are okay, and a good point made above about possibly breaking it down and selling for parts...maybe you will be able to afford another after all!
