Hi all. We have had a couple of days of heavy rain in South Wales and like clock work, the boot has started to leak again. I think I have found the source of the leak. It is well documented on this forum that the high level boot lid stop light is guilty of leaking via the sponge gasket, and I think this is where my leak is coming from. It is leaking through the adhesive sponge and then trickling down the inner skin of the boot lid and them coming out by the boot lock mechanism and down towards the jack area. My car is parked on a slope with the front facing up hill.

Take a look at the video clip. And to add insult to injury, you can see the words OK printed on the light itself - No its not OK!!! ha ha

As I am unable to get a new gasket I will remove the light, clean off the old gasket and apply some Wynns black RTV silicone gasket maker adhesive sealant. I have used this on many similar applications and its excellent.

Any further tips and advice always appreciated.

If it helps, mine leaked when parked faced uphill. Now I park facing downhill and it doesn't leak.

Mine too! Just been to the garage and they say I need a Daihatsu expert. They seem to think that one of the motors that sucks the boot down is not getting power to it. Has anyone else had experience of this?

I guess you all know this by now. When opening the boot, all the water resting on it will inevitably find its way to the inside. It goes down to the front corners that, when opened, are right inside the boot. If you do this a few times a day, it would amount to quite a lot of water... Annoying, right?
