I live in Japan and managed to get a test drive of the new Copen. My own 2003 Copen is loads of fun and thought it might be interesting to see how the new one shaped up.

Naturally, because it was new, nothing rattled..... It does appear to have exactly the same roof mechanism as the previous model.

It has the rather annoying idling stop system in it. Which you can turn off. Saves fuel so they say but I just find it irritating.

Ride was very comfortable (my Copen has been lowered a bit so it is very firm) Ergonomics pretty much the same as previous model.

Engine was responsive and handling more or less the same. Has Sat Nav installed and very nice dash dials. The storage box between the seats has shrunk so they could put a double cup holder there as well.

Nicely made but really just a new skin I think.

I quite liked it to drive. Just prefer the look of the Mk.1....

I doubt we'll ever see it arrive in the UK.
