My roof is proving a bit unreliable at the moment. The boot opens ok, as do the passenger windows, but sometimes the quarter lights won't move and neither will the roof. But if I try it a bit later in the day or after a short run, all is well again. The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't like sitting out in the very hot sun for hour after hour....
Yes, exactly that happened to me on the one or other occasion, Copens do not like it too hot! Andreas
Really?..over here in QLD Aust it gets over 30C all the time in the summer. This is what I do every few months or so just because its an important complicated process this roof. Open the boot and stop! Spray Silicone lubricant on all moving parts, hinges etc. Carry on and open the roof half way and stop! Do the same as before. Don't forget the ones down the sides. It takes a while and there are lots of hinging places you will never have noticed to get this roof down and up. Move the roof accordingly so its easier to get to them. It will quite happily stay in that position until you hit the button again.
I've never had roof issues with the hot days. Not that I open the roof much in summer anyway, it's roof closed an AC on in Brizzy.
A further minor observation on my post from this time last year. I now find that if I hold the roof opening button up for (say) an extra 10 seconds, the roof eventually opens; even in this stifling weather.
Sachihiro didn't want to open his roof on one occasion when he was out in the very hot sun for hours, but after moving into the shade for a few minutes the roof worked again. I guess the heat can cause some electrics to overheat and stop working temporarily.
