Hi everyone i have just bought a smaller engined copen with a running fault. A quick compression test revealed no compression on no 4 cylinder. I removed the cylinder head yesterday to reveal a burnt out exhaust valve. These engines are really quite impressive 16valve twin cams gear driven and a duplex timing chain. The trouble I'm experiencing is none of my local parts suppliers seem to be able to source valves or gaskets. My question is are parts generally hard to find independently and are parts deal at only. I love the look of this little car and would love to fix her. I have owned a Nissan Figaro and this little copen beats it hands down in every department. Can anyone recommend a parts source kind regards martin

Hi Martin, the dealer search on daihatsu.co.uk shows Ashdene Garage East Sussex TN19 7QR as probably your nearest official Daihatsu service centre. Formula 1 Autocentres advised me to change the engine belts on my Copen, but they were unable to source the belts, so I took my car to Cheriton Motor Centre in Folkestone, my closest official Daihatsu service centre, who were able to get the belts and fit them for me. Having said that, I also asked Ashdene Garage if they would do the same work for me, but Cheriton Motor Centre offered me a cheaper quote. Hope that helps!
