    Hi
    I'm a new member.
My name is Terry Mahon from Jo'burg SA

Am looking to buy a Copen to leave at our flat in Simons town.
I'm interested to find out which other cars have similar or compatable
    mechanics to the Copen.
This would obviously put my mind at rest re future spare parts
    availability.

    Looking forward to a reply

    Hi Drac,

First are you looking at a 660 or a 1.3?

    I assume it's a 1.3 since you're in SA?

If it is the 1.3, then it will have the K3-VE engine which was also used on the Sirion and Terios - also some Toyotas.

Parts can be ordered through Imperial Select - the main Daihatsu agent - at least they should be. Parts are expensive, but Japanese made, so pretty good quality (Daihatsu is 52% owned by Toyota). Anything out of the ordinary would probably need to be ordered from Japan, so might take some time.

We had ours serviced at Goch & Cooper in Brackenfell (close to Cape Town - more Belville/Durbanville area) http://www.gandcauto.co.za/ They did a good job, although they had to get the parts (filters and plugs) from the Daihatsu dealer.

I don't know about the other mechanicals, though.

If you have found a good one, I don't think you will regret your decision - we absolutely love ours. :D
