Hi All Copen Turbo 2004 Is there a list of standard replacement bulb tye/part numbers available anywhere here? And, are the headlight/dipped headlight bulbs easy to change/replace? Finally, I keep seeing upgrade kits for the front that give much more light but are very expensive. Has anybody upgraded on Copenworld to something different? Many thanks KS
Here's a bulb list. http://my-car-bulbs.co.uk/daihatsu-copen-2003- These are the rear indicator bulbs: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-585-3...Make:Daihatsu|Model:Copen&hash=item5d43038456 You need to remove part of the inner wheel liner away to get access behind the wing to see the rear of the head light. http://www.geocities.jp/nishikawananami/copenhid7500.htm This one shows how to get behind the wheel arch liner: http://www.geocities.jp/nishikawananami/copenfow.htm Not changed to high intensity bulbs myself. Just changed all my indicator bulbs to chrome ones. See Section J1 of the 9842 - Chassis manual for more information on how to get to bulbs. Couldn't find anything in the manuals that actual specifies the type of bulbs, only the wattage specification.
Chrome indicators? Do they flash orange or white? We're required by law to have orange ones, otherwise you won't pass the Irish MOT and the police can give you a ticket.
They flash orange, but look silver through the lense. Have a look through my modification thread. https://www.copenworld.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=561&highlight=bulbs&page=3
Many thanks Adam greatly appreciated KS PS: I hate changing bulbs more that any other car related task!
I found it was not easy to change the headlight bulbs, even if you remove the wheel! You have to do just by touch. I managed to drop a bulb inside the headlight cluster and never found it! Must be still in there rattling around in there somewhere. Rex.
Found the front chrome indicator bulbs but Google is failing to find the rear ones for me. Either that or the 5th double whiskey is impairing my typing! Any chance of a link Adam?
I replaced my low beam bulbs just last weekend, with upgraded Osram Nightbreakers from powerbulbs (UK site). Bulbs are fairly standard fitment, the low beam are H1 type. As has been described, it's not easy access so you have to be committed to want to change the bulbs, but after you take off the wheel and undo & peel back the inner guard you can get to the bulbs and remove/replace by 'feel'. I also used an inspection mirror and a small torch to see which way around the old bulb was before I took it out (they fit one way). I have put upgraded bulbs like this into quite a few cars and I highly recommend the improved light output. The bulbs don't last as long - so be ready to replace them again - and if one fails then the other one will likely fail very soon too (within weeks usually), but they are an improvement.
I believe these are the Chrome version rear indicators. The key reference being the WY21W reference. http://my-car-bulbs.co.uk/wy21w-582s-silver-chrome-bulbs
Thanks. I ordered a set of front & rear chrome bulbs & they arrived the other day. Just need a dry day off now to fit them. What do I need to look for to replace the interior cabin light with an led version?
I bought this off eBay, never left it in the car though. Even when the light was set to off the LED's glowed like they had a bit of power in them. Weird, so put the old bulb back in. http://i1024.photobucket.com/albums/y303/CopenKenney/DSCF0739_zpsae1e3bf1.jpg
If money was no object you could buy the D Sport one, I presume it works correctly? http://www.dsport-web.com/copen/51.html
If you want to be super cheap, you can get one of those D-Sport ones from DealExtreme. I had something similar to the D-Sport in the Pajero, and I plan on getting one for the Copen from them.

I've got a set of front & rear chrome indicator bulbs for over a week now but keep putting off the job of changing them over. I'm sure the job of changing the front ones will be straight forward but just need the time to jack up the car & take off the front wheels. I'm a bit stumped on how to change the rear ones though. In the chassis manual it says to work up the backside of the rear bumper & there are 2 clips to press to release the light. I can get my hand up the back of the bumper and I can feel the back of the light but can't feel any clips? Am I on the right track? Any tips would be appreciated.
You should be able to change the front bulbs without taking the wheels off. Just turn the wheel as far as you can. That's what I did anyway. http://www.geocities.jp/nishikawananami/copenfow.htm Here's a photo guide for the rear bulb: http://www.geocities.jp/nishikawananami/copenria.htm
Thanks Adam that's a great help. On previous inspection on turning the wheels full lock I still thought the area would be too tight for me to work in.
