Afternoon, I'm planning on wrapping my Copen over the next few months (when the sun has gone in and I revert back to the Mini). How do I remove the front D and the back Copen badge? I was looking at it last night and I cant figure how, other than just yanking it. They will be going back on but they have to be removed first to allow the black vinyl to stick properly. Is there a trick to this without ruining the paint job? Cheers, Lauren.
Try dental floss and heat from a hairdryer. You can fiddle it in between the car and the badge, kind of "sawing" it off. The residue can be removed with sticker remover.
It is quite simple, I hardly needed the hairdryer on mine at all. Just take your time. This link might help Tutorial - Debadging your Copen | Copen Owners Club.Org.UK
As all said just saw the badge off with a length of yarn or what ever. Don't be tempted to scrap the glue off with an implement anywhere near capable of damaging paintwork though. Will take a minute or two to get the badge off, perhaps over an hour to gently take the glue off or most the day if you rush glue removal and have to repair the paint.
It's easier with some fishing line, I found dental floss kept breaking. No heat required and a bit of WD40 afterwards will clean off the remaining glue. (btw If you think the badge is tricky, just try removing the rear view mirror! now that really was a challenge)
i did wonder about the dental floss, havent tried either yet. On a slightly unrealted note, is there a guide on how to take the wing mirrors off?
