Hey, just got a copen for my sister (well she bought did, I arranged it). Lovely little car and look forward to driving it. However, when we bought it, the roof was stuck in the "closed" position (I.E. Covered) and we cant seem to get the boot open to check the compliance plate. Does anybody have any recommendations for a good mechanic in Sydney that will be able to service the boot/roof mechanism?
I don't know of any mechanic in Sydney(have you tired an Ex-Daihatsu dealer?), but I know how to open the boot manually. In the centre console there is a panel in the bottom that can be opened with a screw driver, inside that is a cable you can pull which will unlock the boot manually. Check Page I5-22 Here's a video that shows how its done. It is basically identical to the first generation Copen.
