Hi everyone I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I have my beautiful copen for about a year now, and for the first time I'm in need of parts for it. A huge surprise, I can't find any. I knew when buying the car it would probably come to this, but I was expecting it to be something like roof mechanism parts or something specific to the car, definitely not the shock absorbers. So, if anyone has suggestions a bit simpler then ordering from Japan it would be much appreciated, and even earn you a beer or a dozen if you're in driving distance. I already checked all around Ireland and UK that myself and Google could think of, including eBay. Thanx all
Phero, check the link, it says no original part then lists after market parts. It may help. There is has been an earthquake, and then a computer failure hit the Daihatsu factory and that has hit supply of parts. This is what I was told over delay in a part coming from Daihatsu. Shock Absorber DAIHATSU COPEN 2006 online for sale COPEN Shock Absorber And another one. That should get close, I assume you have spoken to your local dealer?
48531B2400 is the correct parts number, I have bought them via a german shop that does not exist anymore sadly. Have paid 140€ for the pair, quite cheap and they are OEM (Showa) Look for a dealership on www.daihatsu.co.uk and call them, tell them the parts number. They might be able to get some for you
Phero where from and how much? I'm trying to build up a list of accessible parts suppliers other than Zen market. Thank you in advance
Anji, it's actually my girlfriend that found them in the end. 186euro for the rear set. The website of the company is meca-automobile.com They don't ship to Ireland so I had to improvise. I have yet to receive the shocks and hopefully it should all work out, but I'll let you guys know when I do
Hi @Anji, @Phero, I have bought a couple of shock absorbers from the ebay listing below. They are cheaper than any other option and they are quite solid (I've seen some examples of other makers and these are much much more solid). They did indeed improve the behaviour of my Copen on speed bumps and roundabouts, but I guess my old ones where far too gone. Hope this helps. Let me know which option you went with. @copenforbusiness Do you have the Monroe parts number for those? I think it would help all the others still searching and they would not be confined to just one seller. However, I have bought original equipment Showa shock absorbers for less money, but the store went out of business.
Hi @Salieri, unfortunately not, I guess these would be listed at their site but couldn't find them. Yes, happy days, when parts were easily available... By the way, the guy gave me a discount for buying two and combining postage. Not a lot, but every little helps, I suppose.
There must be some code either on the shocks themselves or on the carton, otherwise I would be very suspicious about the origins of those parts
Hi @Salieri, Sorry I didn't explain myself right . Your question was whether I had the codes for these, and my answer was that no, I didn't have the codes. I'm not saying that the shock absorbers don't have them, just that I don't see them or have recorded them. The carton has been recycled and the shock absorbers are installed out of view. Next time I raise the car (hopefully in a while ) I'll try to find them for copenworld. Cheers mate!
