Hi friends, My son stranded today on the german motorhighway white cloud, cap off the reservoir and 2 liters of cooling water away. Reservoir empty.Error code P0115. After filling at the radiator, he ran again. But the cooling temperature is 10 km at 100 km / h back to 129 degrees. at home the emty reservoir was full again.Could save us with the air conditioning on warm home. Anyone have an idea where to look. Charger runs at 0.5 bar, no noise on the engine, new oil and oil level ok. on the way back, everthing looks right for the first 10 Km with 100km/h then suddenly hill up temp goes up again over 115 degress.no downcooling again, only with aircon on in warm step5 to 105 degrees.
Blockiert vielleicht eins der abgefallenen Teile des Kühlerdeckels von vor 2 Wochen den Wasserfluss? P0115 hängt wohl mit dem Überhitzen zusammen
fan comes with 100 degrees, and then doesnt shut off. Can stop it with aircon full level on hot for some minutes. but where is this fu***ing thermostat? Found the tempsensor but search is still going on. Has someone a picture for it? Found only this one until now.
#Wetz does this help? In the UK it is listed here https://www.viamoto.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=Thermostat+-+Daihatsu+Copen+659cc+L880+JB-DET Wetz, if I'm telling you what you already know disregard me. Follow the top hose #69 from the radiator to the thermostat housing #129.
Great, thank you very much. Was not so easy to pull it out. Had check it with hot water and clean it. Now it done it. New coolfluid in engine. engine temp goes up to 86 radiator temp then too, after 100 fan goes up. engine temp goes to 95 degress. Will test it tomorrow on Highway.Speedup to 180 km/h. Charger 1,2 bar, hope runs fine. Send reply.
The problem is still there. Started at 95 km / h 94 degrees. At 150 suddenly 125 degrees. Parking in the car park with fan on it remains at 115 degrees even after 1/2 hours. Water boils in expansion tank. After 10 minutes back to 94 with the heating switched .. Heating off switched engine goes to 115 degrees. Next step: Remove the thermostat and drive a round without. When ok, I will then swap the thermostat although I had tested it. Strangely, the temperature always changes between 105 and 125 degrees even at 80 to 100 km / h, after the problem started. I'm starting to run out of ideas.
Weiz, have you tried with no thermostat? take the thermostat out completely and see it it runs cool. I am thinking that maybe a blockage in the radiator?
#Weiz, one other thought I had last night, the new Radiator cap you had, what pressure is stamped on the cap. It should be 1.1 Bar.
cap had 1.1 , have ordered an other thermostat today. "Thermostat, Kühlmittel" Herth + Buss Jakoparts J1532003 A&C Car Parts Do., 18. Okt. - Sa., 20. Okt. * 7,19 € 1 7,19 € Zwischensumme 7,19 € Versandkosten von A&C Car Parts 4,80 € Gesamtsumme 11,99 € give you reply.
Is it possible tbat the cap isn't working? I am thinking what makes a car overheat. A leak, you have no leak. A blockage, no blockage found, An airlock? and Overpressure, the cap not releasing the pressure. The thermostat I group in obstruction as it would stop coolant flow. Good liuck, let us know
Problem not solved with a new thermostat. I'm starting to run out of ideas. Tested new one against old one, looks equal. In town temp goes up to 80 to 93 degress. Driving on german Autobahn up to 160 km/h with charger 0,3 bar, suddently temp goes to 130 degress. Both inlet and outlet tubes from the cooler very hot, only with aircondition and heating on its goes to 120. See pictures below. No lost power, when hot, Oeltemp up to 90, new oel no lost. no oel in water, no water in oel.
Is the cap releasing pressure and allowing coolant into the expansion bottle? Baffling. or is the cap actually sealing the Radiator and pressurising the system?
cap releasing pressure to the expansion bottle. After cooling down water get back to radiator. until its empty
#Weiz, well I am at a loss, around town it behaves but at pace it overheats! If the system isn't pressurised I would have thought it would boil over around town as well, If the cap is allowing coolant into the expansion bottle it is not over pressure, all that leaves is a leak or air lock. Going back to the very start, do you know what caused the original problem with the cap? Can you try another cap? The more I think, the more I am leaning toward a blocked radiator or blocked or collapsed hose. The reason I am thinking that is, that it is fine in normal use but at speed it can't cool the coolant quicker enough.
Hi Anji ,I think is the head gasket, blows up at high speed. at 120 km/h sudddenly charger change from 0,5 to 0,3 then temp goes up.
have bought this one today.. Cylinder Head Gasket Combustion Leak CO2 Test Zylinderkopf Dichtheitstest Ø30/33 | eBay give reply next week
