IMG_0358.JPG IMG_0357.JPG Lunacy took over a while back and I booked the better half's car in for full respray and waxoyl, just as well with the state of the back panel but must be mad to spend more than she's worth

    Kay and copenworld like this.

I've been tempted to do the same, my Copen is getting ready for a makeover.

Would you be willing to share what it's costing?

Don't worry, it will be a collector's item one day!

Hi Copenworld, cost is somewhat TBD right now, I am meeting the workshop boss tomorrow to discuss what to do with the rear panel and the rear arches. In a perfect world they could do with renewing (just been quoted £380 for the back p and £300 each for the rear quarters, no arch repair panels seem to be available, both these prices are just for the parts from the dealer with a six week wait to import and ex-VAT!) I am going to discuss the fabrication options. The initial job quote was £3000 so, like I said, more than she's worth! (but not to the wife )

Thanks for that, keep us updated with progress, I'll be very keen to see the end result :)

IMG_0368.JPG IMG_0369.JPG IMG_0367.JPG IMG_0366.JPG Been to see the boss man today now he's back from hols, he's found a hole in the chassis leg as well which he's already repaired. He has already started fabricating as he guessed, correctly, that that would likely be the best route. He is also going to fully do the boot floor now and estimates the lot will be two days of welding so approx £1k more so about the same as just sourcing the panels. I attach a couple more pics (you can see the chassis repair if you look closely enough and what promises to be a clever little mod to the rear arches for that nasty little muck trap) ho hum, at least she should be a good un when done

I would spot all the glitters and then weld. After all, what was welded galvanized.
If not completely new, this is the best away. Expensive and lots of work ..

Tasman, I treated the rear, front and arches/underbelly with stone guard, wax oil etc in the summer and I too found the same areas with rust and my copen which is a 2009 model. I think this is what is finally going to reduce the numbers of the model. What year is your copen?

Agree entirely, this is a 56 plate we've had for ten years. We've done a couple of paint repairs before (£200 type jobs) but I spotted worse when the rear no plate fell off and I could see through the holes! Put it on a mate's ramp and realised something had to be done. Workshop reckons she only had 2 years if we hadn't acted.

Hi Welz, I'm afraid I can't tell you how much the platforms are, it's a professional body shop, but, like you, I guess they're not cheap. All part of why this kind of job makes you wince a bit

Seats I got on eBay (originals cloth) and I repaired and re-furb'd myself, quite pleased with the results.
