Hi I've just bought a Copen and want to get an oil filter wrench if possible Can anyone help with the following questions please? 1, Is the filter a std spin on type? 2, What is the overall diameter across the flats? 3, and the number of flutes(flats)? Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get a wrench please? Any info much appreciated. Cheers, Tone
I've just sorted out a wrench Ken will supply them Tel. 02085040017. They're about 62 pounds but it will soon pay for itself IMO. He seems like a nice chap and his prices were competetive for OEM service parts - not cheap but better than Daihatsu. If you do ring him can you let him know that Tony gave you the info please as it may keep him sweet for future orders - thanks Tony
Wow - you may not to spend that much. At work we have an oil filter removal set ( that fit a ratchet) in lots of different sizes - these sets are available from machine mart/ebay etc. Its a fiddle but makes the copen 660cc quite an easy job - pretty much impossible without.
For those of us who don't have an extensive range of tools because we only only fiddle with them from time to time, it'd be really useful if you could tell us exactly which tool does the job of removing the oil filter, and where we could buy one. Thanks!
You could buy the tool Daihatsu use to remove the 660 engined Copen. Daihatsu part number 09228-87201-000 - Wrench Oil Filter. No idea of the cost though. Might pay itself though, with the money you'll save doing the change yourself.
Why do you need an oil filter wrench? Anyway if you need other parts the its better to check this brand directory for the best brand out there.
