Just bought a 2002 Copen, will get the key and the car on July 16. Silver, in great condition, just 17,500 km. Live in Japan, looking forward to fun local riding.

This might be one of the first ones produced. Nice!

Here is my "new" 2002 copen! But wait, the license plate says 1960... hmmm! Just saw the post from our new Dutch member - quite similar, though he wheels fancier! Good ride, but when roof closed and windows open, quite a bit of shaking/rattling noise from the roof. Guessing it is age (car, not me! :) ). Do others experience this?

You are in Japan, just go to a Daihatsu dealer and let them adjust the roof. That is one privillege we do not have in Europe, because nobody here knows how to do it:D
Treating the rubber seals with silicone spray/rubber care producs and spraying the hinges of the roof (when it is half folded in) with white spray grease should help at least a bit.

Our Copen had terrible rattles when we had it a couple of weeks ago, most now fixed with minor adjustments but still rattles.
The worst rattle was from the boot as the previous owner had pulled the manual boot release pins, the blue ones just under the forward edge of the boot, so that was the easiest fix. There are a few adjustable rubber cushion stops that can be tweaked if a panel doesn't sit snugly.
Have a good prod and pull of the various panels in order to identify where it is loose.
    And lubricating as Salieri suggested.
