After seeing Joeleow getting his sunvisors covered I set about searching the internet for pre made ones. I found some PVC ones on Yahoo auctions but they were a bit pricey. I looked on ebay on the Top Gaitors shop but to no avail. So I emailed them to ask if they had them available. They responded & said no however they had an offer for me! If I posted them my actual sun visors they'd make them free of charge for me & cover the postage costs for sending & post them back for free! The benefit for them obviously being they'd have the template to make more. I posted them off tuesday & they confirmed they had them yesterday. Looking on ebay tonight I came across a new listing from them. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RED-STITCHING-DAIHATSU-COPEN-2003-2X-SUN-VISORS-LEATHER-COVERS-ONLY-/350941842131?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACopen&hash=item51b5c38ad3 Uploaded with ImageShack.us Looking forward to getting my sun visors back now! Won't have to look at all them warnings then!
£44! That's fairly pricey, to be honest, particularly when they don't give a discount for buying all their products in one go (just shipping is a single price)
All their other visors are £40 so they must be either very confident of selling at this higher price or just testing the waters before reducing the price. Or maybe their increasing the price of all their increasing the price of all their products. Got to remember Joeleow paid £125 for 2 custom made covers.
Joe's might have been made out of glove leather where as these might be old boot leather. I think he said his leather was imported too. The stitching on Joe's looked excellent. Adam, probably just wrap a couple of zipties around For me they would just make the visor more bulky and possibly reduce vision slightly. When I took mine off I found it really opens things up. Maybe visbility wasn't increased by anything but a cleaner look when you are in a small cock pit and being tall.
I've often wondered it there is a solvent that will remove the horrible printing but not damage the vinyl. Rex.
You could buy a can of vinyl paint and give them a quick spray. I would imagine the white lettering would cover easily using black. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_173967_langId_-1_categoryId_165495
There no denying the 2 products are miles apart but the top gaitors ones are more budget friendly if you want something like that.
Something else thats new: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RED-STITCHING-DAIHATSU-COPEN-2003-2X-WINDSCREEN-PILLAR-LEATHER-COVERS-ONLY-/390717228385?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACopen&hash=item5af88fc561 Not sure if I'd buy these after the faff it was to glu in the arm rest cover!
I'll let you test this one. The white lettering doesn't bother me, I see I as just another part of the cars oddball quirkiness. That vinyl spray paint sinks into the vinyl so it should cover ok and not peel or scrape off. Give it a try.
yeah tell me to have a go first and find it makes a right mess! in your car we know which part is the oddball!
Talking of odd-balls, how are your lacklustre nuts? You should try giving them a polish. I doubt it will make a mess you could sue the manufacturer. Or just try the paint on an old 1970's vinyl settee. Im sure youve got one but if not just look for a skip outside somebody's house. There's bound to be an old settee in it, probably not put there by the skip renter though.
I've still got that orange, brown and yellow vinyl settee you sold me this summer. I've finally got the flaky paint and enamel sitting instructions off it ...and they've not been the same since you had your hands on them
We'll I'm yet to have my actual car sun visors returned & Top Gaitors haven't replied to my last email sent on Wednesday whereas previously they've answered within an hour. Edit: just got a response from them & they haven't posted them back yet. Relieved they still have them & they're not lost in the Christmas post. So much for their promise of returning them within 24 hours of making the covers.
Got my sunvisors & covers back at the start of the week. Looking good but have made a design suggestion to the maker due to the velcro rubbing on the cabin roof. Adding a couple of washers to the sunvisor fixings seems to have reduced the rubbing for me though.
