My orange warning light keeps coming on. The diagnosis is an intermittent misfire and I've been told this might be cured by fitting a new "Ignitor". However the quoted cost is over a thousand pounds for this replacement part! Does anyone have any experience with this? To my ear the car runs and pulls fine without any obvious misfiring going on.:-((

I think you might find the copen uses an igniter unit which is commonly used across the whole Daihatsu range.

You could use one from a YRV, Terios, Sirion or a post 2001 Hijet.

Expect to pay £20 to £40 for a second hand one.

And you could plug it in yourself, or get a half useful friend to do it for you.

I think they are part number 89621-97401, so check the number on yours.

    Regards,

    Threepot.

It could be caused by a number of things, so I certainly wouldn't pay out a lot of money until you know it's definately that.

I had an intermittent misfire earlier in the year, but always the same cylinder. Before I started to get too involved in what could cause it, I shoved some SDP injector cleaner in the tank, never had a problem since, total cost £5! That's probably when I used up my years worth of good luck in one go though!
