My Copen needs a new exhaust. I am not mechanically minded at all and wondered what the implications may be regarding changing this and the potential impact (if any) on the catalytic converter. Would I need to get a new one at the same time etc. Thanks in advance for your patience :wasntme:

There are basically no implications. Either buy the original Daihatsu bolt-on exhaust or have one custom made from stainless steel. I can definitely recommend going stainless - it does not rust that fast.
You do not need to change the catalytic converter, it has a compensator flange fitting (something like this: Auspuff Kompensator mit 45 mm Anschlußdurchmesser), so you can bolt a new exhaust in without changing anything

You can get this one through Jesse Streeter:
HKS Legamax Muffler for Copen LA-,ABA-L880K (31021-AD002)
This is a top quality full SS system. Could not be happier with it

Thats ~560 quid for the exhaust without labour for putting it in. Maybe you can find a shop that does stainless steel exhausts from scratch for less money. However, with the japanese HKS one your car will sound a lot louder :D

I paid £450 for a full S/S from scratch, fitted, with my choice of tone (I asked for subtle but it's still pretty loud) and tailpipes. One thing to mention to whoever's fitting your new exhaust is the lamda sensor which needs to be transferred over, my fitters (TopGear in Bredbury, a LongLife Exhausts franchise) managed to get mine out ok but they warned me sometimes they were rusted in and they'd had to cut them out and weld them into the new exhaust rather than break them.

How long ago was that Vin Petrol? I have been quoted £534 for a S/S one from Powerflow. Seriously considering going this route.
