Hi guys, I'm in the process of hopefully buying a Copen soon as I bought a charade as a runaround and am quite impressed with the little thing. I was toying with the idea of importing a sporty kei car or jap rover Mini at the end of the year but recently found out the Copen was released as an Australian model making my choice much simpler as getting parts etc. will be easier
Hello and welcome, will you guys in Australia get the new Copen model or is it just available via import? By the way: If thats your car in the picture, its not a charade, its a cuore (mira). Maybe they named it differently in Australia?
There are a few Australian members on here. I'm sure they will be able to help you find places to source parts etc. Are there any Copens for sale near you? I think I saw an Australian one advertised recently but it's a big place
Yeah, I've seen it and I like the car. Always a few dramas when buying someone else's project tho. There is no 660 turbos available for sale in my area to compare it with either.
hi, I'm looking to buy a Copen in the next few months also. I live in northern Japan, speak some Japanese, am doing research on Copens, going to dealers to learn more about what I like & what my options are. The small size + open top will be fun when driving through Tokyo, or on the many winding roads where I live, like in the pic below.
Hi Adatara, I've been lucky enough to work in many parts of Japan over the last five summers and when up in Hakodatte, Hokaido Province, we hired a red Daihatsu Copen and zoomed around the countryside and towns when not working. We had noticed some of them driving around In different Japanese cities and towns and really liked their design and amazingly compact size. We were so impressed with the little beastie that we have now bought a 2007 reg Copen this August and are having great fun driving all over the UK, inc the Car Museum Ralley in September. Great to meet up with other Copen'ists. It's a fun and head turning little car so I'm sure you will enjoy being a Copen owner.
Yup, that was me! Previous owner liked makeup, as demonstrated by the amount of powder, hair glitter and lippy I've had to clean off. Three eyeliner brushes under the seat! I suppose the nail varnish paint repair just came as standard?
Haha! Well I've used it myself for covering those tiny little chips that appear from nowhere on the front bumper and the door frame
Toozalii, nice you've been to Hokkaido! When I get mine (this summer?) I want to take it on a road trip around Hokkaido & many other places. Small car = cheaper on ferries & petrol costs, insurance, ... Am reading lots about Copens now, will have a dealer scan auctions for a good car for me.
So I ended up buying the Copen with the 105hp 1.3l conversion. I will start another thread about the car and its progress.
