so I'm looking for some and tried out a McGuard set from Halfords last night. Trouble is they are longer than the originals so stick out a bit (they were standard, not 'tuner' type). looking online there's a type that look shorter but are not fully enclosed, so may look a bit odd http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/mountney-locking-wheel-p-1556.html (I currently have chrome MX5 wheel nuts, so would like something that wouldn't look too odd against them) Has anyone found a set that look good and don't stick out? My concern was that if they stick out a bit someone could just undo them with Stilsons or mole grips. Looking online I then stumbled across this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_196491_langId_-1_categoryId_255216 so am now wondering if it is worth bothering with locking wheel nuts at all. what do you use?
Hi Binz, maybe try http://daihatsu-copen.sgpetch.co.uk...y-wheels/accessory=Locking+Wheel+Nuts/id=8421 Andreas
Hi Binz, I have an Unopened Set of Genuine Daihatsu Locking Wheel Nuts. If your interested send me a PM. Ken.
You don't even need that halfords device to remove a lot of locking wheel nuts just bashing a tight fitting socket over the nuts can remove them. My previous car was a Citroen Pluriel convertible and the locking wheel bolts on that were almost impossible to remove without the correct key. The part of the bolt that stuck out just turned if you put anything on it they were much more secure than the type linked to on this thread. What they will do though is stop an opportunist thief who only has a wheel brace and some brick axle stands. So better than nothing really.
