Hi all, well after a very long day we are now the proud owners of fee bee, an 04 black/red leather 659 copen, what a little gem she is! strictly speaking she is my daughters car but until she passes her test i will be "looking after" the car! very pleased so far drives like a go kart as many people have said, will post some pics when i work out how to, but the car is still on the website of the garage i bought her from, www.jaautos.co.uk if anybody wants a look, will update as we go on but so far so good, just having a bit of a problem with the battery discharging quickly but looking on the forum it seems quite common. might just be a quirk of the car?
If its the original battery it might be on its way out. Batteries don't last nine years and still perform well plus the battery is very small. I'd replace it if I was you. Just looked at the pictures I can see why you called it fee bee. Copens look great in that colour with the roof down. Hope you have many years of trouble free motoring and your daughter doesn't pass the test too soon.
It just kind of worked, fee bee/phoebe, plus my daughters nickname is B or BB so its a personal reg thrown in for free! kids today eh, back in my day.....rusty mark one escort!
Nine years is very good for a battery - most are 4 -6 years. With the Copen's being so small, I'd have expected it to die at the 4 year mark. Look through the little window in the battery (you may need a flashlight)- if you see anything other than green, replace the battery. If you see red - replace it NOW, chances are your battery is giving off hydrogen gas... The same gas that made the Hindenburg go pop.
Joined - Eddie with Carver Hi folks. Joined for engine information as my Carver One has the 660 cc engine. Want to get manuals. Mine has done 36,000 miles and can't find record of valve clearance check. Probably done, and have somewhere else in mind to look for whether mine has been checked. But want the manuals. Lovely engine - max torque is low down and it does pick up well.
Welcome to Copenworld Eddie. Love the Carver One. Very cool. If I had the money & could find one, I'd buy one. That or a new three wheeler Morgan. Anyway, I always thought the Carver had a Smart engine. You would know better than me though. Well once you have been a member for a few days you should get access to the manuals in the Directory section at the top of the forum.
Ive never heard of the carver one so just looked it up. Just watched A YouTube video of Jeremy clarkson testing it, it looks crazy. Clarkson says it has a Japanese Kei car engine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb-MIuXTlEs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
