who are you lot insured with? Seen as my insurance is up for renewal thought it'd be daft not to ask Adrian flux (current insurer) have quoted me 929 quid fully comp FYI I'm 25, driving 6 years, 5 year ncb, 1 crash (not at fault. Got hit head on at 50 whilst I was stationary!!) 3 points for speeding Any worth trying and any worth avoiding? Taa
I'm with direct line at the moment. I shopped around and they were cheapest for me (47 with no points) They might be worth trying. The biggest issue is you get a good price as a new customer then have to leave when your renewal is rediculous and then return again a year later. They also used to be useless for young drivers but I got a good price for my 19 and 20 year old boys on their car this year! When they were 17 and 18 I tried to insure them on my Copen and Direct Line told me to come back when they were 25 so give it a try
direct line for me too. did have hassle when 1st setting up (they wouldn't believe car had immobiliser from factory, so had to send them letter from Daihatsu dealer). but pretty good hassle free service when needed to claim (rear ended while waiting at roundabout), had hire car for many weeks which they charged back to other drivers insurer. I'm 49 with clean licence.
Direct Line for me too, been with them years , swopped once to save money with my 1st Copen , bad move I had a bump and it was a nightmare - went straight back to them . If you do have a bump , its sorted , no hassel
I've never stayed with the same one for more than two years. I've been with Direct Line, Axa, various supermarkets, Hastings, all of them. Each year it's definitely worth spending a couple of hours comparing them to get the best deal. There has never been one that is consistently better than the others, and this goes for my House and Motorcycle insurance too. FWIW my Copen cost me £220 FC for this year, an advantage of being um... a bit older than you Mr Liam
..oh and my other half has insured her Copen with a completely different company as she wasn't offered the same deal as me - so you really do have to compare prices and deals from a few different ones - Sorry that it will mean a bit of work but no straight answer for insurance.
Do any of you have any mods? Think that's gonna be my main issue. Front mount inter cooler, alloys, rear spoiler and the car has been plasti dipped white Deffo gonna try direct line though
No structural or engine mods (both 1.3) - just bling stuff and a different reg number which I informed them about but it doesn't affect insurance.
My mods are all cosmetic too, some companies were funny about my non standard grill and alloys but direct line didn't seem too bothered. They seem more worried about those things when you are younger, one company wanted to charge me extra for having locking wheel nuts on my boys car
Insurance, Arg! Always complex with so many choices and limitations. Went through Go Compair and ended up using Cheap Online Car Insurance UK | Home Insurance Quotes | Quotemehappy.com part of Aviva. £185 for fully comp with no claims and legal protection included for my nice (bought yesterday!!!!) champagne coloured 1.3ltr 2007 Copen. They also do discounts for other cars and home policies so I will prob look again at them when the other policies need renewed. Anyway, the fun I've had with my little Copen in the first 24 hours!! Even had the guys at Eurospares all come out to admiringly look it over as I purchased a new battery this morning. "Wot a tiny little fu....r!" More fun times to come. Have had fun figuring out the window switch holding up for a couple of extra seconds after quarter light raising (after roof raising) as I thought a switch was not working due to driver window not raiseing. Lesson being.... Think simple and try things slowly, often, again, and again, and again. Air con not working so need to track down a local AC specialist chap as I'm not confident with nearby garage skills in this area. More as the fun continues........
Got mine insured with my motorbike insurance company with added bonus of using the no claims I have on motorbikes. Having said that alway shop around and never accept the insurance company initial quote [ask for more discount, extra benifit or remove allegied benifts]. Good luck
So good to hear about your experiences, Toozalii - great to get the admiring glances and comments, but best of all is that Copen-grin - boy the corners are fun! I often don't bother crossing the centre line on our little lakeland roads cos chucking it into the corners is such a wheeeee! Anyway, Air Con: when I picked Neville up his aircon wasn't working - light on, blows lots of air but none of it nice and chilly . The Daihatsu garage that services him said they'd have to get an aircon specialist to look at it (£130), so that was out. Then I saw that Halfords were running a summer special: aircon recharge and clean for £40. In there!! The fella that did it thought Neville was great (went and bought him a bar of chocolate!) and now his system works just fine - well happy. Having just checked their website, that seems to be the deal at the moment, so check it out locally: Halfords Car Air Conditioning Services So, keep on having fun and learning the many foibles of your little bundle of fun!
