I have a 2006 Copen, I found out it was made in 2004, is that right? I`m trying to sell my little copen and a caller asked me to check the label on the seat belts to find the year of manufacture. I was shocked to see it was 2004
It's the first time I've heard of someone asking to check when the seatbelt were made! I don't see why it really matters. Your car was still registered in 2006 & won't effect the value. The UK Copen was a special build for Daihatsu. With some small changes to the Japanese domestic market. Therefore Logistically wise I wouldn't be suprised that all the UK 660 Copens were built all at the same time in 2004. I bet if you looked at the back of any of the plastic panels. On the back you will find date stamps from when the parts came out of the tool. Don't worry about it. Find another buyer that isn't so anal!
The only thing the seat belt date proves is when the seat belts were made! How long were they held in stock before they were used? Did they use as First In First Out stock control system? Who can say? I think your buyer is just looking to trying to knock your price down. Stick to your guns! Rex.
Any ideas how I could find out the actual build date, it`s not on the Log book. This guy said he planned to export it and it had to be 5 years old or less.
As it's a 2006 isn't it already over five years old? Or very close to being. The only clear way to be sure of the build date is to go to Daihatsu with your vin number & ask them. One of the digits or letters in the number will be the year built. The "L880k" should be the same for all.
