Hi , I was at a second hand car dealer's shop and saw a 2008 copen. Being new to this, I really do not know what to look out for. Really need help on this, I don't want to buy a smacked up copen..
theres a buyers guide here. essentially look for rust, look for some kind of proof that the oil change schedule has been followed.
The buyers guide is here https://www.copenworld.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=1078&highlight=Buyers+guide It has loads of useful things to look out for. Good Luck
Hey guys, thanks for the help, now I understand a better on what to look out for! Hope to join the community soon!
Why was it not registered untill 2008? Is it an import and do you know it's manufacture date? I'd be a bit wary of a 659 with a 2008 plate.
Old oil in the turbo? There shouldn't be a huge issue if the car wasn't regged for a while - worst would be standing rust on the wheel arches I'd imagine, if she was left outside. There's currently an unregged 1.3L Copen in Ireland, which was "made" in 2010. What I'd be worried about with that Copen is the oil and petrol going south - but since it's unregged it should still be covered under warranty even though Daihatsu pulled out of Europe.
Hey , Thanks for the info, checked it out.. The condition of the car is fine, except for 1 thing. The copen, even after test driving was at 1.2 on the rpm meter when stationary. Thought it was a cold start at first, but not feeling too good about that as usually cars at stationary are below 1 on the rpm meter. Any advice?
Tickover is quite fast until the idle control valve closes. The 1.3 is a better engine to have in a copen in my worthless opinion. They have way better performance, and are not reving really hard at 70mph. I do love 660cc turbo engines, but they are not a "serious" platform. The 1.3 vvt is also far less prone to problems regarding turbos and abuse.
