Hi, I'm new to Copenworld and just wanted to say hello! I've just bought my first Copen as a project from ebay, a red 2004 with cloth interior. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Daihatsu-Copen-only-24000-miles-damage-repair-/330951983194?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&nma=true&si=ZP1sLLRfOE034%252F5ba8%252FLVrL%252FidA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Am hoping to lightly mod it ,exhaust, air filter, dump valve ,silicon hoses Can anyone recommend any good websites/breakers for body panels? Thanks Gavin
Hi Gavin, welcome to Copenworld. Try these breakers: http://www.partshark.co.uk/used-car-parts-breaking-vehicles/daihatsu/copen Good luck with the rebuild.
Have now sourced 95% of the parts ,so will be starting the rebuild in the next few weeks (weather permitting)
Right here goes ,have been meaning to post some pics since i joined here last year, but with one thing or another have not got round to it Here are some pics of the car when i bought it last year ,Its a 2004 with 20,000 mile on the clock service history to back this up,which i bought for the girlfriend and her parents to enjoy,I was hoping to have it up and running for this summer ,but my father fell ill and i spent a lot of time looking after him and visiting him in hospital (thankfully he is on the mend now )unfortunately other things have managed to get in the way ,work ,doing up our house and my other passion/hobby collecting video games . I have spent last few weekends doing various bits and its starting to look like a car again. This is what it was like when i first bought it . And here's another one when i stripped it down in april this year when the weather got better and warmer Managed to get a few hours on it yesterday and rebuilt the front end up,(i had been waiting for a family member to paint the cross member ) New uprated inter cooler Crossmember was rustproofed followed by stone chip and 10 coats of daihatsu vivid red, they should keep the dreaded tin worm at bay for a while That's all for now will post some more pics soon
New alloy radiator waiting to be fitted, a genuine one in the UK is £390 no way I was paying that it was cheaper to import this from japan
Adam I got the intercooler off yahoo.jp along with the hoses ,some mirrors and a radiator ,the lot was about £600 with fees and import charges ,I can find out the individual price for you if you want .
Gosh! well done! looks like it is well on its way to being mended which is lovely to see, tears your heart to see them being broken up. love the colour match of pipes and car
It really should have gone to the breakers, but i sort off fell in love with it and I promised the girlfriend and her dad i would get them a convertible to use in the summer,I was going to just tidy it up and use it ,but it has evolved into something a bit more ,hopefully the front will be finished and i can get it on the road and mot'd,then i can start on the rear, its bad but no where near as bad as the front .
everyone is allowed to fall in love and dream of a better future for all copens if we werent optimists then we wouldnt have convertibles in England
