Hi all, im desperate to solve this issue of mine. i bought the car less then a month. i was driving and then after the gears could not change, the response seems sluggish, then i drove over a speed hump, the car stalled, i restarted and all is fine, then after same thing. the next day i drove it the gears could not change and the gear box was blown. i ordered a new gear box and fix it onto the car. then after which the same problem came, when i was accelerating, the car maintained in gear 1 and didn't change, then the car gave a loud clang sound, then the numbers of the gear went missing, and the D started flashing( on the P R N D) usually it doesnt flash, but the car is still able to drive. after i restarted the car it works fine again, all seems normal, but then it happenes again. Brought it a workshop the reflashed and change the ecu on the new gearbox, and it still does that. can some one please help me. i dont know whats wrong.
With the proper Daihatsu Diagnostic machine you can talk to the gearbox ECU. With it flashing at the moment it is trying to tell you something! It will have some fault codes stored in it. You may find if you bridge/short the diagnostic connector, the gear light will flash and give you flash codes. I do not have a list of the meanings of the flash codes at the moment but if you test to see if you can make it flash by bridging the connector then we will find a list of their definitions. Otherwise you need to take your car to someone or somewhere that has a Daihatsu DS-2 Diagnostic computer. I have one here in congleton, my details are on my website at http://www.autofaultfinder.com Also I would say there was nothing wrong with your old gearbox. Most likely this is a sensor or wiring loom issue, which is why when it bounced over the speed hump it made it change its game!
The old gear box has actually blown, it was tested. I think it was cause by the initial problem. I used a diagnostic machine. Fault codes are are attached. Changed the sensor and the problem is still there.
You need to connect to the gearbox ECU and data log / real time stream data from it, so you can see what is working and what isn't. You will be able to actuate the solenoids etc to see what is working. If you data logging with the gear box is not possible then you need to open the ECU up and check for water damage/corrosion, then back pin the loom to make sure the harness is not damaged.
Suggestion : indicate in your topic title that your are talking about automatic gear box It does not appear clear and may be it is not efficient Best regards
