Hi there and welcome As for your choice of car: Give us some pics! As for keeping your car running as good as can be do the following: *Regular oil changes (I recommend Shell 0w30 AV-L, but any good 0w40 will do) *Change air filter, spark plugs, brake fluid and the likes according to the owners manual *See if you can find any rust and if you do, treat it *Treat the rubber seals with some protectant (e.g. glycerin, also called "Gummipflege") Apart from that there is not much to it
At least you don't need to worry about a turbo. I change oil and filter once a year. I only do about 5000 miles. I've stuck with 5w-30. Salieri said spark plugs but I invested in some iridiums when I got the car and still on the same set. I intend to change my serpentine belt soon, its on the original. you could slap some new brake pads in to, not expensive and easy to fit.
