    Hi ,
On a business trip in London last week I bought a 2004 82k 0.6 Copen.
I failed the french MOT due to an inoperative catalytic converter. Any idea where I could buy one for a reasonnable price. Less than the price of the car if possible :)
    Thanks!

    Hi :D
The only way to get one is used from a wreckers yard or new from Daihatsu.
    Daihatsu - A votre service
If you have a welder, you could try cutting the cat out of the manifold and weld a new universal one in, but the other two alternatives are a lot easier

Don't think of it as a problem, think of it as an opportunity! Go to a specialist exhaust shop and get a proper 200 cell sports cat fitted for £250-£300, it's less than half the price of just the PART from Daihatsu (£700 new apparently, which is why I checked other options!) and will give you a bit of a performance boost too.

That's assuming it's not your lamda sensors as Welz said.

If the cat is gone, your best bet is to replace the entire exhaust with a stainless steel custom made exhaust with a new cat. It'll save a lot of hassle in the long run.

Powerflow is good, and I believe it comes with a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the car

Thanks for the answers ans suggestions. Sorry to acknowledge late. I didn't believe I would get answers this quick. l could eventually find an agreement with the mot center at least to register the car with french plates. It kind of postpone the problem for two years. I'll try to test the lambda first but I've been told that 85k for a cat mainly driven in town is not this bad. I checked the air filter and plugs, had an oil and filter service. The engine runs smooth although it struggle a bit to take rpms. I wonder if the cat is not clogged.
I'll let you know! Thanks !
