    Hello together,
as I am always looking for new ideas and information’s around the Copen I found your forum – nice to see that the Copen has a lot of fans in UK as well!

My name is Andreas (living in the heart of Germany near Frankfurt) and since last year I am a quite enthusiastic Copen owner and a very active member in the German Copen web-forum.

I must admit my wife buys her Copen first, and as I was not allowed to modify her Copen I take my chance to buy a Copen for my own.

Well … the rest is history …
    :D

In the end we have two yellow Copen in front of our house … and an incredible level of fun each day !

I made in the meantime a lot of upgrades for my “Yellow Pegasus” … too much to list everything … I fear I will forget 50%
    - LSD Doors
    - DVD Sound system with new speakers
    - black wheels and tiers
    - Chrome-application in the inside
    - Black powder-coated front guard
    - Carbon board (rear) for the number plate
    - Pegasus emblem front and rear, and on the rims as well
    - Pegasus engraving on the wind deflector
    - Tanabe Sustec UBD5 underbrace
    - D-Sport brace for the rear axle
    - Wiechers Strut Tower Brace
    - Clear glas rear light
    - customized exhaust (nice sound …)
    - And so on
I still have a lot of ideas … let’s wait and see what comes next.

In the meantime my wife also made some modifications; I guess the most “flashy” one is her old-school airbrush paintwork at the side.

By the way, I also will upload a announcement for the next big Copen meeting May 2010 ... maybe some of you would like to join ;)

Have a nice & sunny day

    Andreas

    Hello again,
as promised above, following the details for the Copen Meeting 2010. I guess we will have +/- 50 Copen for the meeting .... would be great if some of you UK-Copen-owners could make it happend as well !!!
    :) :) :)

In case of any question ... just let me know.
More details are available in the german Copen-forum: LINK

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    Copen - Meeting 2010
14 - 16 May 2010 in Hofheim am Taunus (Germany)

    Friday – 14 May 2010
This day is primary foreseen to arrive at the hotel and to relax after your journey. The organization team will be at the hotel from 2 p.m.

Beginning at 6 p.m. it’s possible to sit together with all the other Copen owners for dinner, some drinks and to talk about the important things in life … means the typical Copen talk until midnight.

    Saturday – 15 May 2010
After the breakfast the participants could start to explore the Taunus and the Rheingau together with other Copen owners by following one of the four prepared tours (for details pls. see below).
You also could visit the beautiful towns in the neighborhood like Wiesbaden, Mainz or Frankfurt for sightseeing … whatever you want.

As of 6 p.m. it’s possible to sit together with all the other Copen owners for dinner, some drinks and to talk about the important things in life … means the typical Copen talk until midnight.

    Sunday – 16 May 2010
After the breakfast its planned to drive together with all participants in a convoy to a very special location near the hotel (max. 25 km away) which offers a perfect background for very nice pictures and (of course) a lot of public attention.
There is also the possibility to have a lunch there.
At the early afternoon the participants could start to travel back home and the organization team will be hospitalized.

The following **** Hotel and Restaurant will be our “base” for these days. The Hotel offers a lot of single and double rooms with a special price (reducing versus the normal price about 18 %) for all of us Copen owners. Please use the key-word “Copen” for booking a room there to get the special price.

    Hotel „Am Rosenberg“
    Wielandstrasse 24
    65719 Hofheim/Taunus (Germany)
    http://www.hotelamrosenberg.de

Single room for 60,00 Euro per night including breakfast
Double room for 100,00 Euro per night including breakfast
In the direct neighborhood of the hotel are also some ***-Hotels and pensions available for a cheaper price, feel free to book them if you are looking for an alternative.
In principle we would prefer that all participants will book their rooms by their own, thanks for your understanding.

For Friday and Saturday we have a huge room and the sun terrace at our disposal, including the hotel catering.
There we have the opportunity for get-together in very nice ambience and, as already mentioned above, talk about the important things in life …

The town Hofheim offers also a very cute historic city centre where you could find some night clubs and restaurants for the night owls among us Copen owners.
The Hotel is located directly at the edge of the forest; there is also a huge parking area part of the hotel which will be exclusively blocked only for all Copen.

For Saturday three tours are planned (with detailed tour-books).

    Tour 1
Short distance (120 – 160 km), sets the focus on sightseeing, interesting places of excursions and the beautiful country roads of the Taunus and the Rheingau.

    Tour 2
Middle distance (170 – 220 km) with the right balance of nice roadway arrangement of beautiful country roads in the Taunus and the Rheingau, and 2 or 3 distinctive places of excursions …for rest and get-together.

    Tour 3
Long distance (250 - 300 km) where the focus is primary to drive … a lot of winding roads.

    Bonus-Tour:
This will be a surprise ... more will follow just a few days before the meeting starts, not earlier.

The participants could build small groups for the tours, drive alone, or do whatever they like to excurse the area.
Based on the experience from the 2009 meeting a group of 5 Copen is not a bad number.

    Please note:
For all tours you have to follow the road traffic regulations, the organization team assumes no liability for any damage or tickets you get.

    For the organization team

    With kind regards

    Andreas

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

You're very lucky having two Copens in your household! I must say I think you've made a great job of the cars. I think the "Yellow Pegasus" in particularly looks terrific, and I love the doors!

Good look with your meeting in May, it sounds like it will be great fun. Can you post some pictures to show us how it went after you've had the meeting?

    Hello Curnewton,
Wow, you really put us UK owners to shame. Incredible modifications and what a great itinerary for the meet. :D

Personally, I'd be interested in finding out more regarding you DVD and speaker modification.

    Anyway, welcome.

    Welcome curnewton.

You really are a Copen enthusiast. It's enough to make us all very jealous of your two cars.

    Very nice work.

First of all, thanks everybody for the nice welcome in your forum :)

    @ Rex,
I have a Kenwood DNX5220 in my copen, the appearance is maybe a bit old fashion, but very functional. It has a USB port, plays DVD (hours and hours of MP3), the navigations system works quick and reliable ... I am very satisfied with this.

The new speakers are ESX Signum SE6.2c

    6.5" (16.5 cm) 2-way Component-System
100 Watt RMS, 200 Watt Peak, 4 Ohm
    25 mm tweeter
separate In-Line frequency-separating filter for speaker and tweeter

For sure this is not a high-end hifi setup, but for my requirements more then enough.
    ;)

Andreas, I really like the LSD doors on your Copen.

Did you fit them, or did a dealer do it for you? Are they difficult to fit?

Thanks for the above info Andreas,
    I've been thinking about a Kenwood-dnx5240

With Christmas and the Wifes Birthday coming up, at £599, I think it will have to wait :(

So the speaker upgrade sound like a good idea for now. Excuse my ignorance, but are the 6.5" a direct replacement? Did you mount the tweeters in the door

Sorry, more question .... Does the kenwood have internal GPS aerial? Is the signal okay?

    Rex.

    @ Rex,
the 6.5" speakers are a 1:1 replacment - it's important to use speakers which have the right installation depth, the most speakers are simply to deep.
The tweeters are installed om the top of the door (as high as possible), attached a small picture how this looks like.
The separate In-Line frequency-separating filter for speaker and tweeter is also hide in the door-panel.

My Kenwood has a seperate GPS receiver, which I have fixed under the dashboard. GPS reception works very well, normally the satellites are detcted in 10 seconds, much faster then my mobile TomTom-Navigation system in my second car.

    @ rushmere,
the LSD doors are installed by my Dai-dealer. I know that they need one and a half day to install them, and you need at least two persons to adjust them properly.
You must remove the door, the wings and the cowl.
As my fingers are all thumbs in these kind of things I decide to let the specialists make their work ;)

    Have a nice day.
    Andreas

Thanks, I'm very tempted to buy some of these after Christmas. I keep going back and looking at your pictures - I think they look fantastic. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try fitting them myself though!

I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with those speakers. I've been looking to buy some Focal 165VR speakers, which should be exactly the same size.

    Hi.

I have checked the webside from ESX, they have no official dealer in UK.
    Very strange ...

    You could contact them directly.
    REST OF EUROPE & RUSSIA
    ESX International
    Tel. +49 (0) 72 53 - 94 65-44
    Tel. +49 (0) 72 53 - 94 65-10
    sales@esxaudio.de
    http://www.esxaudio.de/start.htm

An other possibility is via ebay: http://shop.ebay.de/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=ESX+Signum+SE6.2c&_sacat=See-All-Categories

They ship also to UK, but 25 Euro for shipping is a bit expensive.

In princple I am really satisfied with the speakers, much better sound then the original speakers, and caused by the tweeter you could hear especially the high tones with your ears instead with your feet :D

    Hello folks,
I just would like to mention that tour 1, 2 and 3 are completed, I just need to make a final test-drive some weeks before the meeting starts.
You could see some snapshots under the following link
    http://www.micro-roadster.de/wbb2/thread.php?threadid=1842

At the moment we have already 25 Copen-owners who will join the meeting, I know that some of the french copen-forum are also planning to participate.

In the end I guess we will have at least 40 Copen ... would be great if some of you could join as well :)

    Hi folks,
last weekend we had our big Copen-Meeting here in Germany ... and what should I say .. it was fantastic !

A lot of very nice Copen-Owners from Germany, Netherlands and (of course) Bavaria.
42 Copen in all kind of color, good weather, and neverending fun. Awesome !

Following I will add the link to the corresponding Picasa-Web-Album, where you can find a lot of pictures. They will give you a better impression then words can do.

Have a nice day & Kind regards
