this reply might came a bit too late but i was doing my research and realised that there's 2 version of JB-DET engine by visual observation. one version which is from Daihatsu Move where the intake manifold is smaller and it has got 2 twin coils. where as the JB-DET from Daihatsu Copen has got slight larger intake manifold and 4 individual coils. while i was hunting for head cover gasket, i realised than Copen's head cover gasket is not the same as other JBDET engine from other vehicle model (see attached image of a Copen's head cover and the Move's head cover gasket)

Thank you! I was going to buy this valve cover http://auc.aleado.com/yahoo/lot?auctionID=u173213124 to polish and anodise and with the help of reading your post confirmed that the Yahoo item is definitely from some JB-DET version different to the one on my Copen manufactured April 2004

Help! I have obtained a used Copen valve cover to restore and polish. The 4 spark plug grommets - Daihatsu part number 90044-80571 - are well cooked and need to be removed and replaced. Also the other grommet 90044-80534 needs replacing. Ok fine. But, I discovered that the spark plug grommets are held in by a plate which is riveted to the underside of the valve cover! (See photo attached by Shawn Ng, Jan 11, 2018 .) WTF! Anyone have a clue what to do? Drill out all of the rivets and remove the plate? Reattach the plate how?
