From a Jan. 2004 Copen brochure that I've come across, I see that 'Height adjustment for headlights' came as standard. Does anyone know about this feature? I can't find a switch or similar on my 2008 1.3 model.
You can raise the headlights beam by simply piling bags of sand into the boot until the rear suspension is compressed enough.
Longer answer: there is some form of headlight adjustment. Two screws on both headlamp units are accessible from the top of the units under the bonnet. They allow you to adjust the beam along the horizontal and vertical axis. Below the start of the adjustment procedure in section J1-1 of the service manual.
Of course you can adjust the headlights so the trajectory is correct. This is tested at the Tüv (MOT) every 2 years because it improves road safety (not blinding oncoming traffic). But there is no scroll wheel like in other cars that let you tilt the headlights up/down based on how many people are sitting in the car
You're absolutely right. I thought this became mandatory in EU somewhere during the mid-00's, but apparently not. The need for one is rather unclear to me, for by some strange twist of faith the Copen never won the prestiguous AA Caravaners Car of the Year-award.
