Hey guys, last few days the driver's door lock has suddenly become rigid when I insert or turn the key. It takes more effort to insert/withdraw/turn the key than before.

I've had this problem with another car and it ended up destroying the lock after a while so I'm worried. Do you know if there's something I can do to fix it on my own?

PS: The remote control only works half the time in my case, so I'm obliged to use the key often.

First thing I would try is simple. Rub a pencil on your key, try and get it coated with the graphite from the pencil and then insert the key, Graphite is a good lubricant. If you have any brake cleaner, spray that into the lock prior to using the graphite.. If it remains stiff you may have to remove the door trim and find out why? How old is the battery in the remote, does that need changing?
