Have been thinking about getting a Copen for a year or two. Am now child-free so about to take the plunge. Any advice on judging value and negotiating with dealers welcome.
Hi, My advice would be to be patient. I spent a long time looking for my Copen on eBay and gumtree until one came up just a few miles away ( the good ones always seemed to be in Scotland ) Anyway, I didn't waste any time driving a long way to look at a lemon. I paid £1900 for a 53 plate with 41k on the clock. The wheel arches were corroded but I had them repaired for £180.00. She looks great and runs like a dream. Hope that helps
Welcome to Copenworld! Have you looked at the buyers guide https://www.copenworld.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=1078 It will help you to know what to look for, the prices vary quite a lot depending on age, mileage, condition etc. you need to decide which engine you want as that will narrow your search. I travelled about 30 miles to get mine but I would have gone much further to find the right one. Good luck searching!
lol. when i was looking the closest one was 200 miles south! Ended up going all the way down to London to get one (although I just missed one in the same town as I live by a couple of weeks )
Thanks for the advice Thank you all for your help. The advice to be patient was spot on. I looked at seven Copens in the end: three didn't live up to their descriptions online; two sold within hours of being posted and, although I was quick, I wasn't quick enough; and one owner agreed a price and then changed her mind and decided she couldn't bear to part with it. But it was worth the wait because number seven is a beauty. If it ever stops raining I'll take a photo.
