Due to the total loss of my car and probably one of my last visits to the forum (It was short and sweet) I have the following items on ebay for sale. It's free posting to UK only (Sorry peeps) It's worth a look and the least I can do for the forum http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121096779092 If you're interested, get bidding!
Spun out on Ice a few weeks back when we had the really bad weather. Bodywork was fine but drive shaft, suspension and other connecting bits would have cost £4500+ to repair, so it was wrote off. There was only 1 drive shaft in the UK at the time and that was priced at £600! My word of advice... Don't break your car! I just put all the items in as they were pretty much all I had left over. I know the Owners manual has a asking price of about £30, I can also appreciate that not everything will be wanted, but i'm sure a few people out there will need a belt and wipers after all the bad weather we have had recently.
Did your insurers give you a fair price for the car? It's a major downside of these cars, the cost of genuine spares.
Another tip... Try without Excess! Mine was 600 and it hit me HARD! I was offered £4750 with 68k on the clock I think. Minus 600 excess and 400 to insure it. So in the end I only got £3750 which put me out of getting another decent 1.3. I'm now currently insured on a boring but sensible Nissan Almera 2.2 DCi SXE (Group 10 insurance in old money). With 600 excess it would have cost about another £100 to insure, I requested NO EXCESS and was offered just a £35 admin fee to change it. So don't forget to ASK!
I was looking at the stickers. If it goes to like £30 because of the manual I won't be staying with the bidding.
LOL. Stickers can be bought for a buy it now price of about a fiver... that's where I got them from. Listing only cost me 24 pence and postage probably a tenner. So really anything more than that is a bonus. Hopefully a Copen owner will be looking for some if not all these parts.
I only ever get a maximum excess of £250 and usually because that is the lowest offered. It used to be £100 for the average excess then suddenly it started to go up to the daft levels we get today. Had a look at your auction hoping for seat belt guides, ah well. I used to live in Bishop Aukland when I worked at Shildon many, many years ago. Lived in the Albion cottage guest house and had the odd game of darts and a few beers in the green tree pub on the corner. It's probably all gone now though.
Only lived in this area for about 6 months. And to be honest I wish I bought the car back off the insurance company and made a deal with the garage of 60/40 for parts... Bugger
I'm just thinking. I have 2 keys left as well. 1 black and 1 grey with a little metal tag on stamped D0325, would they be any use to someone or are they just for the car I had?
My wife had a car wrote off because of little more than a dented wing and bust headlight. She surprisingly got a very good payout but the car could have been fixed for a few hundred quid. She had to take it to a main dealers repair shop and they quoted thousands to repair it which was just daft really. I wish I had enquired about buying the car from them, I could have made a canny profit selling it on. The tag is for getting new keys made, they are of no use really on another Copen.
Ok, cheers. Yer if you do get a write off try and sell you car in parts! That last sentence should be in bold on the main page
v sorry to hear about the loss "bidded, but not like I want or need everything in the auction" me too, but I'm a horder so dont mind having 2 of stuff just in case
I was surprised by the price tag for the repairs from what you said, it was all mechanical parts and not body work repairs and resprays needed. With a fair few Copens being scrapped I thought the parts would be available second hand. What the engine and gear box still ok though? Ring them up now to buy it back, you never unless you try.
Gearbox and engine bottom was knocked out of kilter. Front and rear bumper slightly out of alignment. Even if it was fixed it would probably never drive straight again.
well move to where there are lots of winding lanes and you'd not have noticed! just avoid Roman roads
