Hi there! Greetings to all of you, from sunny Athens / Greece.
I am trying to figure out what to do with the suspension of my Copen. It is 1.3 engine 2009 model with 90.000kms on.

Daihatsu garage quoted me a price of 1130€ for both OEM front and rear absorbers.
I am trying to find alternatives and i am open to ideas for anything else please.

I found this kit which comes at a much better price, but is it going to work with my copen or the specs are only for the 660cc model?

Showa Tuning Sports Suspension Set - Copen L880K - RHDJapan

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Vasilis,

That set works for the 1.3L version. I replaced my suspension last summer with the Showa Tuning Sport set, and my Copen is also a 1.3L.
For individual parts like bolts, nuts, rubber cushions, front suspension supports, and other small components, please refer to the section:
I've attached a PDF to that form with the part numbers and information on where you can order them.

Tieak! Thank you for the response! I use eBay frequently and I have seen this set, but I’m kind of suspicious about these shocks, because I don’t see any details about them.

    Hi Shahram!
Yes I’ve seen the post you’ve made, when you helped another member here! Actually the list seems to be very helpful and encouraging!
I will try to decide whether Showa is better than the oem option or not. Definitely I’dont go after racing, but I prefer something to work well with the car. ☺️

    Just an Update!
RHDJAPAN kindly informed me that the Showa shocks for the Copen are discontinued!
I will go for the oem ones

    Hi Vasilis,

I checked the official Showa website: DAIHATSU COPEN用 サスペンション – SHOWA TUNING (ショーワチューニング)サスペンション, and there's no mention of them discontinuing the Copen suspension. It might just be a temporary pause, or perhaps they’re working on a new design.

Anyway, it seems like you don’t have much choice other than going with the OEM version. There are plenty of adjustable performance suspension sets available for the Copen, but unfortunately, all of them lower the car by 10 to 15 mm, even at the highest setting. The Copen is already low enough—the last thing it needs is to go even lower.

Nengun has front shocks available here: Genuine Copen L880K Handling OEM parts supplied from Japan - Nengun Performance, though I’m not sure if they come with springs. You could try contacting them to confirm.

Best of luck, and happy driving!
