shop around The cost of insurance will vary depending on many different criteria such as age, experience, NCD, location, value of car, parking, your employment and even your job. I got my best deal from 1stCentral and Sainsury's which I found on MoneySavingExpert.com, I tried Aviva and Admiral but they were both about £200 more. One thing that can make a lot of difference to the cost of your premium is your job title. I change jobs quite a lot and have noticed a up to a 30% change in the cost of my policy. If your employment is "flexible" it is worth trying a few different job titles that could apply to you. Good luck Sam
Direct line was cheaper than anything on comparison site for me; but was a pain in the aris' getting them to accept the immobiliser was there and met their requirements. For wife's car comparison site found stuff cheaper than direct line. conclusion; shop around and don't just look at comparison sites. keikars has some insurance link too (footman james?) but that was a lot more expensive for me.
Peter Best insurances Google the above speak to the Maldon office ,they are setting up a discount scheme for Copen owners the same as they do for other types of cars, We will be using them as they have proved first class for other cars/members of the Nert club
Insurance ... Hi JoJo - if it's not too late, I just insured my Copen with Swinton, fully comp, £214. Good luck!
Car Insurance Right, My insurance is due for renewal next month. I am with Tesco and they have sent a renewal price of £1233+ I have been on comparison sites and the best price I can get is around £650 I am 26 with 8 years NCD work as an accountant. I had a little incident in Sep 2010 but I never claimed anything because it was hardly a scratch on mines but the other driver wanted money and I just said to deal with the insurer and then she told me she would claim the injuries as well. I said I can't be bothered do what you like and didn't realise the consequences :-(( I see people only paying around £200, why mines is so high
you have the privilege of youth, I'm paying £200 and a bit but i'm 46 to get it cheaper you could try the insurers that aren't on comparison sites (e.g. i found Direct Line were cheaper than the comparison sites could find ) if you haven't already, can you add an older person to your insurance? My stepdaughter got her insurance cheaper because my wife was a named driver on the policy, even though she lives 100 miles away
Thanks Binz. When you say named driver, do you mean first driver or the additional driver. I might add my great great grandfather who lives thousands miles away in heaven I have tried direct line , sainsburys, swinton, 1st central and they were all too high. When I was under 25 I thought once I past 25 my insurance would come down but it hasn't in fact its gone up
This is how it is in the car insurance world. One company can be cheap for one driver but the same company will be very expensive for another, even with the same car. Best thing is shop around.
There is another option. Having a named older driver with a good track record might help. My lass is 27 only been passed 2 years and doesn't have any NCD. It would be 1200 for her on a little Saxo 1.1, but with me on it (33 and 8 yrs NCD) as a named driver brings it down to 800. Stick your dad on it
There may be age range factors in their magical insurance formula but that it suddenly drops when you hit a certain age is just an urban myth. I never saw any sudden change with my insurance. It may have been true in the days when cars ran on coal, but not these days. I think its just something that's persisted.
Thanks Guys, The cheapest quote I got is from elephant and admiral which I think is the same companies. I have used admiral in the past and they were fine.
