    Hello!

My beloved silver Copen's boot is neither fully shut, or open. I closed in the other day, with the cover in place in side and nothing in the small boot area. It didn't make that motorised whine and clunk noise, and now won't open or close fully if I push it. The small strips of the boot lid that meets the car are not quite in line. I have tried re-popping the boot via the remote and with the little button, and once it made the noise to say the boot is open, with no clunk though, so I know it has power, but didn't open. I tried removing the screw in the cubby hole, but I could not get to the pull cord. Is that the only way to open my boot? Does anyone know why this happened or how to fix it? I have had Copen's for 10+ years and never had this. So frustrating.:sweating:

    Thanks

    Hi
First thing to check, is your battery fully charged and do you operate your roof with your engine running because if you drain down the battery even a small amount the ECU will know and stop the operation in order to keep information intact. How often do you operate your roof? because the hydraulic system has to build up pressure in order to operate within perameters, and yes you have to release the boot via the release cable in order to reset the whole system again and make sure you have the correct amount of hydraulic fluid in the system. If you can access the work manual on this site it's in the Service Manual 9842, section 15 Sunroof/T-Ber Roof/Convertible. Hope this helps.

Hi. We also have this problem with Daisy, our 2005 Copen. We hadn’t used it for a week, it’s been raining and I drove a short distance and parked with engine off, but accidentally had all lights and fogs etc on, battery died. Anyway, started it with booster, drove quite a way, all fine. Couple of days later went to work (with stuff in boot) got stuff out all fine. Put more stuff in boot, drove home, fine. Tipsy Dad got stuff out of boot in eve and accidentally left drivers door open all night . Next day can’t open boot and it beeps as you drive. Have removed parcel shelf (that was not easy) pulled blue rings at the sides, pressed manual release button but boot won’t open. I’ve put a heater in it to dry any dampness, but can’t open the flipping boot! Any other tips?

Just to be sure…when you say “pressed manual release button”…do you mean you pull the cord as per the attached? It doesn’t quite sound the same.

Thank you, those diagrams are just what I needed! I hadn't found the pull cord in the console, only the button. I'll get onto that tomorrow. I've been asking all the nephews and nieces if they are claustrophobic ready to post a small child into the boot with some lubricant for the catches!

The boot is open! Thank you so much. But it is still beeping :( As lots of people on here have been saying there was a little water and a damp carpet in there, so I’ve had a fan heater in there for a while now. Fingers crossed it’ll have dried and discovered the roof isn’t open.
