The lovely Bridgestone tyre seems to have rocketed in price - Would a size 175/55T 15 work on a standard 2004 Copen please? I can get Continental Eco Contact 3 for a good price - would that sizing work? If not are there any other tyres or sizes I should investigate please? Thanks Ceri
see this for info on changing tyre size http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-size-calculator theres a tyre size thread here https://www.copenworld.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=534 I run original size Nankang tyres, about £40 each
yep, a local tyre place got them in next day for me, or you could get them online (£35 at mytyres.co.uk) and have them fitted by your local tyre place they are nankang ns2 165 50 15
Binz Thanks - have ordered and will tell my mate with a Copen about them. Was quoted £103 by that large national chain for the Bridgestones! Cheers Ceri
Hi I was quoted over £102.00 a tyre by KwikFit for the Bridgestone's last year but got them from my local tyre company (Morden Tyres - 020 8648 2167) for £67.00 each fully fitted, balanced and including V.A.T. Bridgstone Potenza RE040 165/50 R15 73V Achilles Economist XL 165/50R15 75V (Was quoted £56.00 each as an alternative) Nankang NS2 Toyo Proxes R888 Conti Sport Contact 3 All the best KS
I've gone for the Nankang NS2 at £35 inc delivery from my tyres.co.uk they even arrived early , £10 each to get fitted, I'm pleased to be rid of the overpriced Bridgestones that never lasted. So my Nankang's cost £45 each and I'm happy, at that price I can change them more often. KS - thanks for that list, very useful for all UK Copenites.
Good price and NK NS2 are meant to be quite good with respect to wear and fuel economy. OK dry grip but watch out in the wet! they probably won't grip in the wet like the BS Ps. Ask Scooty, he has the 185s but has felt it. Also German grading system gives NS2s 1 star just because of the lack of grip in the wet otherwise it has a fairly good rating by them. I guess you have gone for 165s but same tread pattern will probably mean that lack wet grip too. Although advantage with a 165 over the 185 in the wet is it will have a higher square inch pressure on the road which could help disperse water better. You could report back when you have driven in some wet weather and let us know if you have felt a difference to the BS Ps and give other copen owners a heads up.
Very happy with the Nankangs in the dry and wet - I tend to take it easy in the wet anyway - never thought Bridgestone's were actually that good in the wet on other cars I've had. So very happy with price and handling.
Did you go for 165 or 175 in the end? You could let use know how they go with regard to wear rate but that could be many months if not years before you can make a good estimate. I think by then we will all have forgotten this or imploded in one huge global fiscal meltdown and just a pea sized globule remains. Not sure where DaG could then put his bird table cum avian sand pit play cente
the Bridgestone 165/50 R15s are only £51 each tyre only, or £64.50 each fully fitted with black circles in the UK. http://www.blackcircles.com/order/tyres/search
Hi, I had bridgestones fitted couple of months ago and paid £45 inc the fitting, thought at the time quite expensive, tyre guy apologised and said that they are but it seems now that I got quite a good deal compared to some!
