    ...keeps flickering.

I had it in the garage for a service, so mentioned it. The brakes are safe, the handbrake was adjusted, but it's still doing it.

Annoyingly I can't say there is a common theme, like on hills or over bumps. The only thing is that if I put pressure on the handbrake lever it usually goes off, sometime only until I release it. Some journeys it only flickers a couple of times, others it's at it all the way.

Any suggestions or has anyone had the same problem? Obviously it's going to have to go back to the garage, but I would like some suggestions for them if possible.

So it's linked to the hand brake. Is it the light to show the hand brake is on?
My suggestion is to take out the centre console to access the hand brake switch. Which is very easy, you don't want to pay a garage to do it for you.

It's probably covered in dust, lint or debris. Resulting in a sticky switch. It thinks the hand brake is on. Give it a good clean. Take off the crimps & clean the terminals.
