I wondered if anyone else had this. On the inside face of both brake discs around the outer edge, they have gone rusty. I noticed this last year when I heard a noise. The rusting ring had worn the pads more than the rest of the pad. I took discs off cleaned the rust off and new pads. This started to clean the ring up and I've not heard them since. However, this month doing a check over for MOT the rusty ring is still there. It still passed the MOT but as its an easy job to slap some new discs on I may very well do anyway. But have others had this problem as I don't think I have on other cars?
Mine were full of rust on the non-contact surfaces. Years ago I was into bikes and the story then was that the quickest stoppers do rust - the shiny chrome ones were reckoned to be no-where near as good. As you suggest, a quick solution is to swap them out. It's a very simple job. I believe I got new discs and pads for well under £50.00.
bikes as in push or motor? certainly, chrome plated wheels on push bikes don't give much friction for good breaking when you had those little rubber blocks.
it is a structural error. It settles on brake dust and dries on the inside. Once a year it helps to remove the saddles and clean them on the inside. in Germany there is no other way for a new MOT. I do this every year when I put on the summer tires. Turning off the discs costs more than new discs
