Hi folks, I just put a deposit on a wee 2004 0.6 silver Copen last night, and I'm impatiently chewing my fingernails counting down the sleeps until I pick her up on Saturday morning!!!!!!! I've loved the look of the Copen for a few years, but always thought that they were maybe a bit impractical for my needs. A recent lifestyle change has allowed me to re-think these "needs" and the hunt for a wee quirky, car began. Och, who am I kidding? I'm having my mid-life crisis a decade early I spotted an advert on Sunday night for a 2004 Copen with less than 20k on the clock fairly locally to Fife, and almost camped on the guys doorstep til he was available to let me see her. Wow, what a beauty. There's not a mark on her, both external and internal. I was dithering about whether the lack of Diahatsu service centres in Fife would pose a problem, but then I had one of those "F*** it" moments and just agreed the asking price with him All I need now is a good nickname for her. Noddy seems the most obvious, but not very original. Suggestions on a postcard please . . . . Waaaaaaaaaa, four sleeps !!!!!! Lou x
Not the best photo, but I was too excited about viewing the car to think about taking any!!!! Doh!!!!!
Welcome aboard Lou! The car looks fab, complete with skirts. Same age/colour as mine. You will love being a Copen owner. You won't stop smiling and it makes everyone else smile too . Now, as to a name.....Lulu? Looby Lou? McCopen?
Hi Lou, Welcome to Copenworld. Congratulations on your Copen purchase. She looks nice & with the skirt kit too.
Hi Lou ! You made a good choice. I recognize me a few months ago in your post ! Now days will seems like weeks, but patience, your Copenist life is gonna start !!!
I picked my copen up on 22nd March last year so Saturday will be my anniversary It seems like longer than a year but we still have just as much fun as when we had that first drive home.
Welcome Lou The fun starts here!!! Like Old Badger, I think McCopen for a name, too. Let's hope we have a Summer like last year...
Woh, I so identify with you on this one, Lou! :-(( I met Neville for the first time in November, had to travel to North Wales and boy, those nights between setting up the meeting and actually getting there ... well, they dragged! Scratch one more off - believe us all - the wait will be worth it. Enjoy!!
Name .... hmmm .... since it's a kei car how about Tamagotchi (it's kinda like a little pet ) which can then be shortened to a more Scottish Tam or Tammy (depending on your male/female leanings with the gender of your car!). Just a thought.... Not long now!
You can see we all empathise with you, Lou - we've been through the same angsts, hopes and excitements. As Badger says - update pleeese!
I think Lou is so enamoured of her new Copen that she has driven off into the sunset....maybe she'll be living in it for a while (another use for a Copen!)
Unfortunately Lou is not out enjoying the unusually sunny weather that we've been experiencing in normally dreary Scotland :-(( Lou is not a happy bunny this week. I picked the car (unofficially nicknamed Noddy) up on Saturday as planned under a 24-hour temporary insurance policy, and had THE BEST TIME driving her home. I love it!!!!! What a hoot!!!!! I had to stop in a lay-by on the way home to regain my composure, as I was in danger of wetting myself with giggling so much It got popped in the garage when I got home so that hubby & me & the dog could go run some errands, and it's not moved since :-(-(( I'm having severe trouble getting insurance sorted without selling my soul to Satan. I need to keep my old car insured while I try to sell it, so have been trawling the Internet for cheap insurance for Noddy which I can just cancel when the Mini gets sold. Its not happening. Insurance companies don't do "cheap" anymore. :-(( Also both cars have private plates which are getting changed which companies charge an admin fee of at least £25 each to do, plus the £185 that DVLA are charging to change them!!!!!! It's working out cheaper and less hassle to leave Noddy SORNd in the garage for the moment. NOT HAPPY !!!!!!! At this rate someone is going to get a bargain of a Mini Cooper S just so I can get rid and transfer my policy onto the Copen. And to top it all off, hubby had a new 3D Smart TV, bluray player and surround sound system to play with, and I can't play with my new toy :-(-(( All expressions of sympathy and understanding gratefully received . . . . Lou x
