Had 2 quotes to get the alloys refurbed. The lowest was £225 & the highest was £290. Both quotes included sandblasting & dipping. Is the lower quote good value or about average? The garage has good reviews & feedback online plus they showed me some of the work they were doing today.
I've seen adverts for around sixty to seventy quid a wheel. Copen wheels are only painted inside the spokes. The large front face of the wheels is polished and then lacquered alloy. That is a more expensive finish though.
I had one wheel refurbished last year (I hit the kerb while parking :-(() it cost £70. If they are the original copen wheels - and you want the original finish - they need to be diamond cut. Not every where does this. I had quotes of £50/£60 a wheel to sand and paint them but as DaG said the diamond cutting was more.
Round our way it's about £65 per wheel. Diamond cut was about £10 extra I think. No where I tried would give a garantee on diamond cut as they say 1 stone chip etc and the lacquer fails and it starts corroding again. So I went with what they called 'black chrome' finish and had the spoke surfaces silver then fading darker into the recesses.
So £55 per wheel is reasonable for a standard refurb? Just didn't want to pay over the odds or be taken for a mug
Our local place is £169 for 4 wheels inc tyre fitting and valves and wheel balancing. Up to 18" alloys.
Then that's a bloody good price but the cost of driving up to Scotland & back wouldn't make it good value for me. Drove to Loch Lomond once! Took bloody forever! Great holiday though but strangely don't remember the drive back.
