Has anyone fitted an aftermarket alarm to their car? I have the manual for my car but I would get more sense walking around at night in a blacked out pair of glasses in a pair of Superman y fronts. The immobilizer is in the key and the little hoop round the key hole is the transponder thing. Has anyone disabled the immobilizer and had the one from the aftermarket one running? There are hacks for the immobilizer and may do the hack as last resort but just want to know what wires are for the main parts of the alarm.

Cobra seems to be the most widely fitted, although the models vary. Mine's a 4 series with a 3 button remote that also unlocks the boot lid. I think it was fitted from new judging by the way it's been integrated into the wiring loom.

Someone has kindly supplied the wiring diagram in response to one of my posts (search for Cobra alarm) but, to be honest, I wouldn't want to tackle it as a diy job.
