Hi, I have Copen with broken turbo, anyone have any experience of replacing, how difficult is it to do yourself? Also they are big money so thinking of sourcing on car being being broken up, is there anyway of checking if turbo works before parting with my money, i assume not but thought i would ask? If I have to buy new where? Can existing one be refurnished etc All thoughts, ideas most welcome...Thanks.

If you have any experience of replacing. You need only a set of gaskets and a manuell
    for the torques.
you do not need to remove the engine, with some feeling also from the front, but is a lot to dismantle.

First make sure the turbo is actually faulty. It could just be a leaking pipe.
Take the intake pipe off the turbo and see if you can spin the turbine by hand and check for play/ruffness in the bearing.

I would go to a professional Daihatsu garage to get it sorted.
These suggestions also seem very legitimate.
