Hi, My copen is black with red seats. I'm in the process of De-badging it. Putting more powerful speakers in. It's got a few rust spots around the wheel arches, good thing is that it's not yet broke the surface, when it does I'm thinking of getting it either repaired professionally or even getting a full respray. Does anyone know who'd do this and how much it'd cost?
The wind deflector has Daihatsu written across the bottom, I was wondering whether I'd be able to remove this or get it re-etched. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I live in the West Midlands

    Thanks

Our copen had rusty rear arch tops, bubbling under the paint. We had it cut out/back and welded/resprayed.
We had quotes of £400, £675 and £2600 inc. replacing panels.
We went for the £400 and he seems to have done a good job ( he grumbled about someone having a go at it before, making more work for him)
Time will tell if the job was a gooddun.

just got our second copen 04 reg. we also have a brand new vw bettle!!!!
My car is going in for a full respray plus replacment wings front and rear tomorrow:D. Do your research and find a good painter, the first repair i had done only lasted 12 mnths:mad:, funnily enough he has now gone out of buisness!!!!!. As regards to cost i'm looking at a cost of around £2800 for the full respray (which includes extra labour cost for the rear quaters). The panels cost me £1100 from daihatsu, i couldn't get copy panels anywhere!!!.Other upgrades-- i'm also looking at getting the seats and door cards recovered in proper leather, i've been told this company are good www.theseatsurgeons.com. i'm going to have a look at a friend of a friends car who has had some work done there... Taking some photos tonight to show before and after the work has been done:).Remember people "CHECK THOSE CORNERS" and do regular checks;)

    Wahey!

Thanks for that, didn't think to check! Yep, your right it's etched on.

I took off the Daihatsu Badge front & rear tonight, Looks really cool. (just hope I don't get blisters on my fingers from rubbing glue off)! Like I did when I removed the Copen badge.
I'll post pic as soon as I've totally debaged it.

    £££

I wonder whether I'd be able to do it myself? probably cost me best part of £200 just to buy the stuff. Probably make a mess of it too!! I'll wait for rust to come through before I get it repaired/resprayed.

I seen a white one which was sold on EB which had respray. Looked really nice, such a nice colour too.

There's a show on at Kingsbury Waterpark in September. Should be good day

How does a wind deflector work? Is it not a deflector but a movement suppressor? Does it stop the air in the cabin from moving/going backwards in effect due to the fast moving air going over the cabin air and dragging it?

In the old days (when I was just a boy) and long hair was fashionable , if you drove around in a convertible (they didn't have deflectors then), your long hair would blow forwards - the air flow would go over the top of the windscreen then curl around and blow into the low pressure space behind the windscreen. The wind deflector stops this from happening.
