Strangely set off in mine today and at the first stop my foot went to the floor on the brake pedal !!! The pedal came back but was now grinding when braking ,i assumed pads were worn down.It then dawned on me i had checked the brakes a couple of months ago and were fine , surely they cant of worn in such a short time? The only conclusion i can come to is the lining has come off the pad itself ,have just been out and purchased new pads and i will report back when i have further investigated ,its dark and issing down at the mo.
So today i investigated my braking problem ,what a shock!!!! Pads were completely destroyed ,one had its lining already fallen off the pad backing plate and the others separated on removal. I've never seen that before think i had a lucky escape Lining missing from pad The other side New pads fitted with plenty of copper seal on them.Think i need to shop for a new set of disks as well.
Lucky call. You need to replace those disks / rotors as they look like they're eaten with rust. If you do the disks yourself, scrape all the rust and crud off the calipers and paint them - the calipers for the Copen aren't cheap, so the last thing you want is to have to replace them due to preventable rust.
In the uk and yes we need a :mot: which is a vehicle worthiness test .However in reality it is only an indication of the vehicles state on the day of the test even though the certificate is valid for 12 months.
Searching for an exhaust today ,phew there arent many suppliers? i know i could get one made but in reality i dont want to spend a fortune. Only one i can find is on Ebay ,anybody got a link to another supplier in the UK?
So today i had a go at tackling my P1035 fault on the copen. I had gasped at the price of genuine Daihatsu Oxygen sensors so took a gamble on a Toyota one of the bay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121620771961? _trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Well the fitting was easy a straight swap ,then i cleared the codes.went for a drive and sadly the mil light was back on the dashboard. grrrrrrr any guru's know of an alternative that will fit unless i changed the wrong sensor
I did mine the other day, managed to get a new one off eBay for £46. Replaced it and got one of the guys at work to clear the code and jobs a gooden hasn't come back since. It was bank 1 sensor 1 so the one on the engine manifold, it was black and covered with soot when I took it out so I figure it was the right one. I had a peak at the cat oxygen sensor and that looks like it could be tricky, looks rusted in tight!
Whoop got a bargain this week. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291700574924?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT This is the same as the faulty sensor that i removed from the car ,a real bargain i think. Its off on its hols later this week so i might even dig the polish out.
